What is the difference between an "acquisition date" and a "date created" from a Leads list from a form?

I'm looking at some data from a form and one of the columns is "acquistion date." What's the difference between this and "date created" ?

Erik provides an important distinction that you should note. This caused us some issues in our early days. We had a significant difference between lead totals in SFDC and Marketo reports. We were pulling reports in Marketo by Created At, but reports in Salesforce by Created Date. The created date in SFDC was off for leads that started as anonymous leads. Once we understood this little caveat our reports made much more sense.

Date created would be the date the lead entered the system, whether through marketo or your CRM integration. Acquistion date would be the date they were associated with a program. Ideally, these dates would be the same, but when leads come over from your CRM, you'll find that the acqusition date will be the first program they end up, provided you're using program acquisitions.

I assume this is the same as "Created Date" vs "Lead Was Created"
  • Created Date is when the lead is first cookied by your system.
  • Lead was Created is when the lead first converts.
So for your question, I believe Acquisition Date would be when they're first given an Acquisition Program (which not all leads have). Depending on how you set it up, this is most likely the first form they complete.

A minor detail on date created- it will be the date cookied if the lead was anonymous first. However, if it came in through a form or list import for the first time without being first cookied, it would just be the time that it came into the system.
