Using Marketo iPad App for Existing Leads @ Conference

I'm pretty fond of the Marketo iPad app as it lets our sales team enter leads into the conference program before they update opportunities and such, as opposed to waiting until they return and us doing it manually (thereby screwing up the chronological ordering that Marketo uses for its reporting). 

But I have a question - In this particular conference we do not have the attendee list, so although most of these folks are already in our SFDC instance in one way or another (small industry), I noticed that using the ADD button will create a duplicate lead regardless if email already exists. 

Without loading our entire database into the conference program, is there a better way to sync these existing leads using the iPad app? 

As it stands, I'll need to monitor the program and merge duplicate leads as they happen. Still better than manually entering each lead after the conference, but not as automated as I had hoped.
