Using Interesting Moments to timestamp comments from form submissions

Hi All,

In our current setup, when someone fills out the comments field in a form, it overwrites the previous value.

I would like to preserve a record of previous comments on the lead record.  We have a long sales cycle and it would be helpful to keep this information for reference.

My idea is to use Interesting Moments to append the comment field data when someone fills out a form. (We already capture all form submissions in the interesting moments.).  A timestamped record of the form they submitted and their comment would be available on the record in Sales Insight.

I have a few question regarding this approach:

1) Do you see any issues with it?
2) Are interesting moments archived so I would potentially lose this data after 90 days?  I don't think so, but wanted to check.
3)What other solutions are you using to preserve a history of comments in the lead record?

Thanks!
-Jamie

Re: Using Interesting Moments to timestamp comments from form submissions

Hi Jamie,

We log form comments in interesting moments and as completed activities. Yes, interesting moments do archive, but in our system it is longer than 90 days. I put in a request with Marketo to wait for a year before archiving our data, so that might be why. Even if it did archive in 90 days, I love having the notes in interesting moments. It's so clear to sales reps what happened and when.

If they need to go back for older comments, they could check the activity log.

Thanks Delinda!

I will ask Marketo about extending the time they keep Interesting Moments for us too.

I'm not clear what you mean by the activity log.  Do you mean in the lead acttivity record in Marketo.  Or is this something you set in SFDC?

Thanks

I mean they can check the SFDC actitiy history, because I also log notes from form completion there. I make the subject of the task something like "NOTES - Contact us Form Completion."

Interesting,  we plan on adding the comments to the tasks for the sales rep.  I didn't think about creating a separate task to log the comments.

Thanks!

Re: Using Interesting Moments to timestamp comments from form submissions

Marketo engineers confirmed that Interesting Moments are not part of the data that's archived.  You also can change the standard archive of 90 days to 1 year, but it could slow down your DB.

Thanks!

Maybe it's not technically "archived" but it definitely falls off the account-level view at some point. Perhaps it only sticks with the contacts forever.

Is there a resource for listing out what, exactly, is archived?
