Subject Line AB Testing

Hi all.

I just tried to use the subject line AB testing for the first time in a program and I am confused. Our program is a Customer Satisfaction Survey, and have three subject lines we want to test and apply the winner within the same email.

Specifically:
  • How do I know which subject lines performed the best?
  • What happens if I haven't declared a winner? Does the list just get tested with the three subject lines split between them?
Thanks,

Ashley

Hi Ashley

If you chose Manual for your Declare Winner setting, the tests will continue to go out until you declare a winner and you will receive a report on the test on the date you have chosen in the email program. You can also view the performance of your subject lines in the A/B Testing Dashboard of you test.

Ashley, one thing to keep in mind, if this is a batch campaign you cannot use the champion/challenger style test. Not sure if you're referring to a batch or triggered campaign, but if it's a batch campaign then only your champion email will go out.

If this is triggered, then you will know which performed the best using the dashboard as Val mentioned. Until you declare a winner, your tests will go out -- I think in the champion/challenger test it's always manual to declare the winner.
