static list imports

I have just imported a static list and marketo has updated some of the lead names that are associated with other contacts for the same email addresses . This being because some schools have general emails. The static list that I imported with the new leads they have been changed to the names to these emails already in the system.  How do I make sure all my lead contact names stay correct from my static list for these email addresses.

Re: static list imports

If it's obvious when it's a generic email (sales@, admissions@) I'd just remove those from the spreadsheet before importing. But shared email addresses like this cause messes no matter what.

Do you need those in your database? Like does someone actually man those inboxes and they generate business for you?

Re: static list imports

I would reiterate that shared emails are a pain in the butt.

Here's two ideas:
  1. In the field management section, you could block updates to those fields from a list import.
  2. If you are using SFDC, you could do your import there to allow for the creation of duplicates.
