Hi there,

Has anyone used the Flat Iron template in Email Editor 2 and be willing to share an example of their creative? There is interest in using this template for  a campaign, but some folks want to see it in practice.

Many thanks,

Tori

I was looking at this template today too! Following this thread...

Justin - We are having significant issues with flat iron working across platforms.  It looks great on many OS/providers but Windows/Outlook renders everything skewed.  Any tips, tweaks, guidance or someone you can point me to?

Hey Ryan,

First, did you grab the updated file that I posted above? It's not yet update in our Template Picker (although it will be soon)?

Second, If you click that Litmus link above for "Flatiron" it's looking ok to me on Win/Outlook2010 Win/Outlook2016, Win/Outlook2007, etc...what are you seeing is the issue? One thing that is for sure true is you'll want to insert images that are similarly sized to the images that are in the template. Doesn't have to be exact but if you insert a massive image it won't work well. This is due to a product limitation that we're addressing in the next month or so.

So, if you let me know what you're seeing I can try to help you out more.

Justin -

My images didn't post.  Here is the Outlook version all stretched out.

Here it is in Gmail which renders just like the draft and template:

I wasn't able to grab the files that you posted previously - can't log in to OneLogin.

Thanks!

Use this link to download new templates: https://1drv.ms/u/s!AnyeJJCbcDMjkQot_Tz-w0JleffL

Then let me know if you still see the issue when you use an image with the recommended size (640x276)

Hey Justin -

We're now having issues getting the hero to render on Outlook 2016 (app only / browser is fine).  We are using the revised templates published back in August.

The image renders fine on every other platform we have tested...  Any suggestions or updates we can utilize?

Thanks!

which template? I can't reproduce this. I have created a new email from Flatiron and then edited the hero image and added an entirely different image that was 640x276 (the recommended size for the hero bg):

For further reference, here is how it looks when we emailed the template in its unaltered format.

This is in outlook 2016 on windows 10 enterprise.

This is so strange! I will look into it more with this template but here is what I get in both Litmus and when I test on Windows 10 / Outlook 2016. All you did was replace the image? No other changes to the code?

Justin-

Have you been able to figure anything out?  Just to confirm, no changes to the code.  The image I posted at 11am is sending the template with no changes.  Again, this is windows 10 enterprise and outlook 2016.  Litmus doesn't offer that testing combination to me, just outlook 2016 on windows 7.  Maybe you have access to something more advanced.

Thanks.

I tried every rendering tool! I was using Litmus + emailonacid + 250ok

I also personally tested on a physical Windows 10 machine with Outlook 2016 and I am still seeing this:

Fear not, though! Perhaps you can send me an email including your marketo subscription prefix (or munchkin ID) and a link to the email you are testing so we can see exactly what's happening.

Hi Justin.

Yes this is still using Flat Iron.  The platform we can't currently solve for is Windows 10 Outlook 2016, which is the image above that I posted.  The hero image we are using is the correct dimensions of 640 x 276.

Any insight you can provide would be great.

Thanks!

Thanks for providing these templates! It corrected a lot of the issues we had with FlatIron, but the video link is still blocked in Outlook 2010. Is there a fix for this?

When you say the link is broken, do you mean you are clicking the thumbnail and nothing is happening?

Lacy_Patrino

Yes. Only the image comes through.

That's expected behavior. The "play button" overlay isn't supported on all clients.

Hi Justin,

I don't see Flat Iron as an updated template. Am I missing something?

Every template will be updated inside Marketo in the next 1-2 days. But, it is newsletter3.html in that package, as I wrote above.

Hey Justin -

Thanks for getting back to me so quickly.

All the images I have made are to the exact measurements that are shown in

the sample images on the template. However here is how they look:

Gmail:

Outlook:

Unfortunately, I was not able to log into Box from that link you had

posted. Is there another way I can access the files?

Many thanks!!
