Hi - I am trying to integrate my Marketo sandbox to a salesforce sandbox- once I get to the part to sign into salesforce in Marketo , I get a message: Request token failure: Any ideas on how to fix this?

Our team faced the similar issue and we found that it was a SF dev environment not a Sandbox.
We unchecked the Connecting to Sandbox in Marketo and it worked successfully.

Adding my recent experience here for those who might also encounter this issue but are connecting to a true SFDC sandbox.
When setting up the API user, if your Salesforce admin uses the new username/password to login to SFDC and generate the verification token, Marketo will run into the Request token failure error.
To resolve, reset the user's password in SFDC and then attempt the Login With Salesforce button.
