Round about reporting on revenue

Hi,

I've had issues in the past with sales ppl not attaching contacts to oppties at other companies. But we just uncovered that this isn't even an option in our current SFDC setup. If and when they use anything, it's a custom object of "buying team". Our SFDC is very much sales led.

Any ideas on how we can most accurately report our marketing efforts to $$? They also don't seem to be making the connection btwn oppties and campaigns.

Using RCA, you could make the settings account based meaning the activities of any Contact within the Account get credited to the Oppty success (as opposed to Contacts with roles).

Note that this can significantly inflate the results of your marketing influence as an Account may have 100s of Contacts. Not sure if this fits your needs but it's someting to consider.

Just thinking out loud...Could you use the object sync and map to the "buying team" custom object? How do they track closed business, is it on the custom object or are there fields on the account object? Would you be able to create your own custom object or use the standard opportunity object for marketing?
