Restricting what email sends in a stream based on products owned

Hi, 
We want to create a stream of cross-sell emails to our existing customers. But, we don't want them to get a cross-sell if they already own that product. Is there a way to control which customers receive the email based on the product they own?

Hey Leah, how are you tracking products owned? Are they related object records in the CRM? Picklist values on an account record? 

Knowing this would determine the best way to filter your campaigns.

Hi, each product is a custom variable in our marketo database with a y/n value.
For example, the field is "Product A" and the value is either yes or no.

So you would just add a filter to your campaign that sends the cross-sell email. 

If it is an email for product A, add a filter that says

Product A  is No
