I have set up three nurture streams in our nurture campaign. The only difference between the three streams is the audience which pulls from three smart lists. One sends on S/T/Th, one on W only and one on Th only and they share content. For example, on 10/7 and 10/8 all groups would receive message number 74.
I noticed that even though the content was approved and activated in the W only stream, it did not send out the message yesterday. It did send to the S/T/Th group today but did not send to the Th only group.
Each of the streams has their program participants. I understand that one stream cannot send duplicate content but I assumed that a single message could be sent to different streams. I've gone over the set up with a fine-toothed comb and don't see anything glaringly wrong so what should I check next?
Hi Mindy,
A Nurture Program will not send an email to those leads that have already received the email in the past, no matter what the source was.
Is it possible that all of the leads in the stream had received the email already?
John
Nope - I checked our instance we had not sent this one before (we do recycle content but this particular one had not been sent). I checked a few of the emails and in the "Used By" section it only lists the "S/T/Th" stream and not the "W" stream or "Th" stream even though it's clearly in the stream, approved and activated.
Does Marketo use just the email message name to determine if it's duplicate content? Meaning if I give them different names, would that change how Marketo handles them?
No, the name alone would not cause it to be seen as duplicate. The Nurture Program looks at the asset id, which is unique to each email.
You can indeed add the same content to different streams and leads from various streams will all receive it.
You also need to keep in mind that streams in a nurturing program are a partition : a lead can only be in one stream at a time.
Then if some leads move from one stream to another, Marketo will still know that the person has received the content when in its previous stream and will not send it again. It will automatically switch to the next content on the stream.
Each of these three streams is unique - the only overlap would be our employee list which is set up to receive every email a customer would receive. (That's what alerted me that the list yesterday didn't go out)
Hi Mindy,
Are your content in streams programs or simple emails?
If they are programs, the Marketo will not sent the message if the lead is already a program member.
The other issue might be a mistake on the stream scheduling.
Also, go the program summary view and make sure your streams have been populated.
Just simple emails in each stream and each stream has approved and activated content.
Just checked the schedules and they're set for weekly delivery on the specified dates.
Each stream has the appropriate member counts (I assume that's what you mean by the streams are populated)
Here's a screenshot of the streams:
Ok, I contacted support and it appears I was looking for results too early (day after delivery). I didn't get the message myself because i am also in another stream. When I look at the dashboard now I do see that it was sent for these two groups.
