Hi
I am trying to schedule our sends so emails don't arrive in reader inboxes at the same time, but have not been able to figure out how to send at specific time. Is this only possible if our content is ready 12 hours in advance of scheduled send time? How does any one manage a daily email send that content is only ready on that day.
It took 6 HOURS to receive from time I set to send.
"head Start" program is only for programs with final email already set up correct?
Hi Rachel,
You can schedule an simple email (email program type) 15 min advance, and a standard batch smart campaign to run immediately.
What may prevent your email to be sent immediately is the complexity of the query and the consequence: the duration to compute the members.
As you stated, on a email program type, you can use the head start, but you need to plan it 12 hours in advance. But it does not mean that your email needs to be ready 12 hours ahead. You can prepare the program with an empty email, schedule it 12 hours ahead, and complete the email before the 12 hours are expired (or cancel it if you have nothing to send).
The other solution is to use static lists. Create a smart campaign that compiles your target 12 to 24 hours in advance and stores the result in a static list. then, on your email program (or any other smart campaign that will send the email), just use a "member of list" filter, which will be very quick.

Second thought, if you provide a few stats (total number of leads in the database and number of leads in the targte for your email) and a screen shot of the filters you are using, we may be able to see whether there are some optimization that could be done on your smart list to make it faster.

Thank you Greg-
I will try the head start program now that I know my email can be added
with the 12 hour window.
I will also try to gather the information you requested above to see if you
can help us. I have been handed work with the "smart lists" already in play
and not understanding how they were built so please bear with me as I learn
more about this.
Thanks for such a quick response!

Hi again Rachel,
You will have to create a dummy email and approve it in order to plan your campaign, but you will be able to edit a draft and approve it in the 12 hours window.
-Greg
Can I change the deployment time once I have my real email draft approved?
Example:
I have set up my shell for a daily I will send tomorrow with the email
blank, but approved
I have checked the "head start" box and set my date/ time to 02/23/16 2pm
CST.
I normally have the email ready by 12pm CST ( I built in a few extra hours
in case something is delayed on our end)
Would the list process be complete before 2pm and if so at that point can I
change the time to send or does that start the process over?

No, changing the time will restart the process over and you will need at least 12 hours again.
I recommend that you use the static list approach that I mentioned, or that you optimize the smart list in your smart campaign to make it faster.
-Greg
Good to know, I understood that changes to the creative require re-starting the campaign. This will severely help my efforts.
Thank you
