Marketo emails being sent to junk mailbox

When testing emails and sending out internal communications, we've noticed that sometimes Marketo emails get sent to a recipients junk mailbox and sometimes they don't. From what we've found, it's really random. For instance, we can send the same email to 10 people internally and for whatever reason, 2 of them will get it in their junk folder instead of their inbox.

There doesn't seem to be any consistency in who recieves the email and who has it sent to their junk mailbox. Does anyone know why this is happening?

Thanks

Re: Marketo emails being sent to junk mailbox

Make sure your internal IT has whitelisted the email that you are using as well as the branded domain used in the admin setup. You may also see if IT or the individual users have any filters set up that look for test parameters. Often these are caught at the individual email client based upon its "learnings" about what the individual considers junk.

Next take the users that go to junk and see what information you have on them in the system to see if you can see anything unique from the inferred information.

There are also a couple of articles on deliverability in the community that may share some insights.

One other factor that will cause this is the number of emails going to the same email domain.  Once the threshold is exceeded, all other emails will go into the Junk E-Mail folder.  As Clinton suggested, whitelisting will prevent this, but if you have a lot of leads you mail to with the same email domain, you may want to throttle your emails.

Is there a report that shows how many emails end up in Junk Mail?  How does Marketo track that?
