Marketing Opt In

We are making plans to send our marketing communications only to leads/contacts who have opted in. Historically, we have sent communications to all marketable leads unless they unsubscribed or were blocked by Marketing Suspended or Black Listed campaigns in Marketo. Does anyone have any insight or best practices they would be willing to share for this type of transition.

My worry is with the implementation of the campaign and the lack of adoption by our marketable leads since they have been receiving content all along? Also, is it possible to use a simple "opt in" link in our e-mails, or do we have to have them go to a landing page which contains a global form?

I am volunteering for a non-profit organisation registered as charity. We recently implemented Marketo thanks to an internal licence donation program. 
 
Our database consists of internal members, local representatives and local business. We are subject to all European Privacy Laws.
 
We send a campaign inviting new leads to opt-in. The flow sets unsubscribe to true after sending the email out.

There is a very noticeable unsubscribe link in the email body using {{lead.Unsubscribed:default=}} in addition to the default one.
