Is it normal... Blank Versions of Text Email Tests

When I send myself test emails and click the box to send a text-only version as well, the text-only version comes up blank in my email. I've tested in a variety of emails providers and it keeps coming in blank. When I preview the text version in Marketo, it displays correctly.  I reached out to customer support and they are saying this is how it is supposed to work, but I wanted to know is that really is true.  When we tested things in the past, things worked fine and we recieved both an HTML and a text version.  Any ideas?  Is this happening to anyone else?

Hi Lesley,

If you've placed text in the text sections of your email, then sending both the HTML and Text versions of a Test should result in receiving two emails, one of each type.

That sounds odd Support would say a blank email is correct.

Which email client are you using? When I receive the tests in Gmail, I often have to press the "quoted" text button "..." to make the text appear in the second email since Gmail sees those as similar emails.

Did you specify to support that you were sending tests?  I disagree that that is how it is 'supposed' to work.  In the past if you checked for the text-only, you got both, not a blank text-only (which IS how it should work for a regular send, but not a test, i wouldn't think).  I call 'bug' on this.

Just tested in our instance, and sending a test with text version checked does indeed send both emails, text version is not blank.

Thanks for the help guys!  I have been testing in Gmail, Outlook and Yahoo and am getting blank results.  It seems really strange, as I tested old content and am getting the same results (when this has worked on our platform in the past).  

I tried both the copy from HTML button and just copying and pasting the copy into the text version. It just seems odd. 

I appreciate the community helping out!   Hopefully support figures out if it is just me.

Just to confirm what Craig said, I just tested this and received both emails without any issue and the text only version had everything there.

Does the email have a draft and if so, did you update the draft to include the text?  Keep in mind that send test has two versions.  If there is a draft, "send test" will send the last approved version of the email (maybe this didn't have the text version filled out?).  Send Test of Draft will send a test of what you have just updated while in draft mode.  Could this be the reason?

Thanks for all the help everyone!  I did have text content in both the saved and approved versions of the email.  It is just a really odd thing that support is helping me with.
