Invitation Emails are Being Forwarded and Lead Records are Being Updated

I am frequently sending invitiations to register for events, webinars, and tradeshows, and the email contains a link to a landing page to confirm name, company, and email address. Recipients often forward these emails via their Outlook/Email program rather than the Forward to a Friend process. Since the email containing the link contains data on the original recipient, how can I prevent lead records from being updated with the info entered by their "friend" they forwarded it to?

Should I build a separate landing page/form, disable pre-fill, and then include a non-trackable link in the email for others to click on?

Am interested to see what others say here. Im having the same issue with nurture. Im getting tons of 'new' leads from nurture (which is obviously not right) and Support's response was that these are all for people being forwarded the email. My biggest issue is I have progressive profiling in place so if the person the email was sent to already filled out all the forms, the person being forwarded the email skips them all. HUGE problem for me.

We have the same problem too!  The other issue is we get leads that aren't necessarily leads because they are using a different email address than what we sent to.  This is resulting in the creation of many leads that really aren't and this feeds back into our Salesforce system I have to continually clean.

I did a demo for this product Certain which is compatible with Marketo.  I guess they have some agreement with Marketo, but their focus is on event management, RSVPs, etc.  Might be worth checking out.

You need to disable the pefill. Pefill will appear on the same marketo landing page.
