Re: How to randomly segment your database ?

Dear Marketo users,

I have a 90 000 people database, and I simply want to randomly segment it in three parts.
I have been able to isolate 33% using the "random" fonction, but I do not know how to isolate the rest of my database.
I tried using some kind of "present in total database" and "absent in the 33" but it does not seem to work ....

Does anyone know ? (I am using smart lists)

Thank you in advance,
Hugo

Yes, if you do as the instructions in the article point out then the same person should not be in more than one list.

Thank you for yout answer Cathal, can I be sure creating the 3 lists that Marketo will not take the same people randomly ? Does it automatically isolate those who already have randomly selected and put in a list ?

You could create 3 static lists.
Then create a cmart campaign.
Smart List:  all inclusive smart list like last name is not empty.
Flow.

Add to list
Random sample 33% to list A
Random sample 33% to list B
Random sample 34% to list C
