Hi Nicole, we have created an email invalid field in SFDC that syncs to Marketo. If the system-based field for Marketo is marked as email invalid, then a smart campaign will check the SFDC version of email invalid to be true as well. This is less so we don't email them, and more so our teams using SFDC and not using Marketo directly have insight into why emails might not be sent to a person from Marketo.
