How do you handle responses on forms in multiple languages?

Hi All,

We were wondering how others handle multiple languages submits through forms. We’ve been running into the problem where if a lead fills out the text field on a form in their native tongue than we lose uniformity in reporting—their data is saved without clarification so it is a challenge to translate it correctly.

Our solution was to build all forms with only input type>select, instead of text, and allow leads to change their browser to their native language.

Any suggestions? Or do you have the same concern?

Thanks for all your thoughtful responses!

Hello Jessica!

At Marketo we currently we have separate forms for each language, but with the next release you'll see Forms 2.0 and there is a functionality that allows different input/output values based on criteria such as preferred language!  Stay tuned!

What is your best suggestion for data in Marketo in different languages? How do you translate?

There is no translation tool in Marketo. Best thing to do is build out your local languages in seperate forms and use those forms

We market in 14 langauages so we had built 14 seprate forms with local language on the labels. The values in picklists we present to the public will be local but pass English to SFDC.

Try and capture most of your form data in the form of a pick list, radio buttons etc. and reduce text based fields. This way your able to run faster smart lists without having to use 'Contains' or 'Starts with'.

Forms 2.0 is coming at the end of January.

Hi Edward,

How do you get the English version to go into SFDC, do you right them like Schweiz::Switzerland  ? or is their another way. We are still using some of the older forms for things and haven't fully migrated to Forms 2.0.

Any help would be appreciated.

Exactly, but we wanted ISO country code as the value to be passed to SFDC so we only passed 2 digits, i.e. United States::US, Canada::CA etc
