Getting Alert Emails Onto an Email Performance Report
We provide a monthly open rate report to another department and recently activated a referral form within Marketo that sends referred leads to SalesForce. It also has an automatic "send alert" set up that sends an email to the referrer. Is there any way the open rate can be tracked in the same monthly open rate email performance report? It's labeled as an email, yet the analytics function doesn't seem to recognize it as such when it's checked from the list of emails to include in the report.

Alert emails aren't tracked by Marketo. Why not use the Send Email flow action rather than Send Alert, especially if the referrer is outside of your company?

The recipient for the alert is pulled from an email address field within the referral form, and the only way we were able to set up that flow action was to use an alert, as opposed to a standard email.

Not sure If you can create or select an existing Marketo lead record for the referrers email address, but if so, then you can use the Send Email flow action.
