Will the new Email Insights analytics apply to both Traditional Email as well as the Email channel? We use Traditional Email exclusively in Content Programs for more control in Engagement Programs. If the new Insights only to apply to the Email channel, we won't see much benefit. Anyone else facing this issue or know how Insights will apply? Thanks.

Email Insights applies to any email that Marketo can send, regardless of source campaign/program.
You will be able to use Custom Dimensions to optionally specify "channel" if you did want to breakdown data by, or filter by only Email Batch channel for example.

My understanding is that it will apply to all email assets, so whether the emails sit in a standard program or in an email program makes no difference.
You will be able to filter by channel though, and also it will be possible to filter out operational emails or emails sent through trigger campaign or emails sent through batch campaigns. So it will be very easy to report on exactly what you need.

Hi Brian - per this supplement (Supplement: Email Insights Launch Process - Marketo Docs - Product Docs ) - we will be able to configure email insights with custom dimensions. But unlike custom dimensions in RCE, we are limited to a total of 10, and they can either be based on program tags or custom segmentations. What's missing is the ability to add custom fields as a dimension (like you can do with RCE). Are there plans to increase the scope of this within Email Insights?
Dan, Segmentations allow any lead attribute - built-in or custom (or lead-level audience segmentation one can describe using a Smart List) to be the basis for a Email Insights custom dimension. The huge benefit with limited lead-level custom dimensions based on Segmentations is that they are by-definition limited in scope for the possible number of values.
One major source of performance challenges both Email Performance Report and the Email Analysis area within RCE is that fact that there are no limits, and hence it's near impossible to optimize performance. It simply would not have been possible to deliver Email Insights with this level of query response times if there was support for raw custom fields.
We will be evaluating the scenarios in which more than 10 custom dimensions are required. I encourage you to submit Ideas with specific use-cases.
