Does Salesforce Sync include interesting moments with MSI for Salesforce installed?

We have a use case where in some cases we want an account team assigned in Salesforce to be notified of a new interesting moment logged by Marketo on a key contact. Does Salesforce Sync also include interesting moments, so that the following process could work?

  1. Interesting moment logged in Marketo
  2. Something (Salesforce Sync, hopefully?) syncs the interesting moment to Salesforce, related to a Contact record
  3. An autolaunched flow in Salesforce notifies the contact's account team members on the Account record

I found an old Q&A from 2014 that explains one solution to sync interesting moments to Salesforce by proxy as a Task record. However, I'm curious whether in the 4 years since that thread other options have come to light, for example to sync interesting moments to a custom object that may or may not be included in MSI for Salesforce.

Hey Marty Chang !

Interesting moments definitely get synced over to MSI (and it's SUPER helpful)!

You could either do a flow in SFDC or in Marketo to notify team members when a certain interesting moment occurs. (For example, I have a campaign created to send an alert email to Sales Owners whenever one of their leads watches a webinar)

Hi Marty,

Little correction on what Brett writes, Interesting moments are not sync'ed to SFDC, they are visible from it. The difference is that IM's (and this also applies to email, web activity and scoring that are visible in the various MSI tabs) are not stored in SFDC, but rather are extracted on-the-fly from Marketo when you display the lead or contact record in SFDC.

Therefore, you cannot fire any workflow, process builder nor trigger in SFDC to alert the sales.

There are multiple other ways to achieve this, though:

  • You can send an alert from Marketo to the account owner
  • You can create a task from Marketo and assign it to the account owner
  • You can use the update to the "Last Interesting Moment Desc" and "Last Interesting Moment Date" fields in SFDC to fire a workflow or process builder instead
