Hello,
I noticed several discrepancies when replicating the same reports between Classic Revenue Explorer and Power BI Advanced Analytics when analytics Emails Open, Sent etc... For most campaign the discrepancy is relatively small +/- 2 over thousands of emails sent but for one campaign i have more, like 35 Delivered Emails on Classic Revenue Explorer and in Marketo Email Performance whilst i have 40 in Power BI Advanced Analytics.
What could be the reason? I have used the same filtering on both Classic Revenue Explorer and Power BI Advanced Analytics (month of May and excluding internal emails)
Thanks in advanced for your insights!
Vincent
Hi @Vinz While I'm not entirely certain, one possible reason could be that Power BI is pulling data from a synced dataset that may not be updated in real-time. In contrast, Classic Revenue Explorer typically reflects real-time or near-real-time data from Marketo.
A minor discrepancy of 2–5 records is quite common and generally acceptable in large datasets due to syncing delays or processing differences. However, a difference of 35+ records is significant and should be investigated through a data audit—especially if it could impact campaign insights or business decisions.
Thanks!!
Thank you Niharika,
i checked a few days later and still see a discrepancy of 5 between Marketo (35) and PowerBI (40) report in terms of deliveries.
Opened deviation is even bigger for this campaign, as it shows 10 whilst Power BI Shows 28!
It's a rather small dataset but still, it does not tell the same story if we have 28 or 10 Opened emails for 41 Sent. Which one should I trust?
What should I concretely ask the IT/Developer Team to check?
When exporting the data from Power BI, for each day in May, it shows something like that, which is a bit confusing: total is 36 Delivered Emails but when summing up the daily data, we end up with 40 Delivered Emails. It happens for this specific campaign, not for all the others where we have thousands emails sent/delivered. How come? Again no extra smart list filter or anything., just plain raw data.
Thanks for your support
