Anyone Exploring the New SFDC Sync Backlog Dashboards in Marketo?

I’ve started exploring the new Salesforce Sync Backlog Dashboards in Marketo, and while the Adobe documentation is a solid starting point, I'm curious about how others are using them.

Some questions on my mind:

  • Are you using these dashboards to monitor and resolve sync issues proactively?

  • Have they changed how you prioritize what gets pushed into Salesforce?

In complex environments, especially with high lead volumes or heavy API usage, backlogs can be a silent killer for velocity. I’d love to hear how others are implementing these insights or if you're still figuring out where they fit!

Re: Anyone Exploring the New SFDC Sync Backlog Dashboards in Marketo?

I've been using it mainly for monitoring at the moment.  We recently had a some large set of data updates on the SFDC side where account and contact information was being updated to align with some internal reorgs happening and we needed to make sure that there were no interruption's of the sync or impact to any campaigns.  I found the backlog trend helpful in projecting timing for when everything was caught up.  Overall I find the new reports pretty helpful in this regard.

Thanks Beth - Yes I definitely find this a helpful improvement when debugging bigger instances (and enterprise level SFDC).
I am paying particular attention to lower priority sync objects (campaign and custom objects) and backlogged opportunity record syncing.

I think Opportunities are of particular concern as they tend to (a) have a lot of fields with 'limited' Marketing applications (b) currency fields and (c) formula fields. They also (in my experience) tend to be the focus of automations that are triggering field changes.  It is a dated resource but I have referenced this more than a few times > https://nation.marketo.com/t5/marketo-whisperer-blogs/best-practices-for-syncing-sfdc-opportunities-...

Interested in what others think?

That's a really good point. I can think of a handful of people who would have benefited from that resource before running into those sync issues. Opportunities can be especially tricky, with all the automations, formula fields, and random marketing-unfriendly fields in the mix. And yes, keeping an eye on those lower-priority objects like campaigns and custom objects is so important in larger instances. Thanks for calling that out! 😎

Re: Anyone Exploring the New SFDC Sync Backlog Dashboards in Marketo?

Hi @beth-corby - I have been using SFDC Sync Backlog Dashboards to monitor and troubleshoot sync issues proactively.

I have noticed them in "growing" backlog status multiple times, which helps me to prioritise accordingly on where I should focus.

And, yes, as you mentioned, the Best Practices link mentioned over the dashboard is a great way to get started, but I don't know why your link is not working. So, please find the updated link shared below for anyone's reference.

Thanks!

Yes! This has been so helpful as we integrated a new Marketo.
