Kiva seeks a Chief Marketing Officer to own and evolve the Kiva brand. Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, the Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) will be responsible for creating and executing a strategic and integrated marketing plan to increase awareness and engagement with the organization. The CMO will strategically position the overall brand while creating unique channels for diverse stakeholders and products. This role will partner closely with members of the Executive Leadership team to create the positioning and narrative for new initiatives and products. In addition to owning the marketing organization, this person will be a critical member of the Executive Leadership team. They will be involved in strategic planning and decision making at the organizational level on both internally and externally facing issues.

The ideal candidate is a seasoned marketing executive who has successfully led complex and evolving marketing organizations. They sort through competing opportunities/priorities and create testable marketing strategies that can be quickly iterated and improved upon. They consistently deliver results through flexibility and determination. They are a bold and creative thinker who seizes opportunities to connect Kiva's brand with international events and milestones. They are an artful storyteller who tells stories of human connection in a highly visual way. Additionally, they are a bold and compassionate leader who is capable of attracting and developing top talent.


  • Own and evolve the Kiva brand resulting in increased brand awareness and engagement with a diverse set of stakeholders
  • Strategically position the Kiva brand and its varied products (Marketplace, Protocol, Capital, etc.)
  • Create an integrated marketing plan across all Kiva products that tells a consistent brand story while tailoring content for each product and audience
  • Utilize a variety of channels to create and share the stories of human connection that emerge from the Kiva marketplace and products
  • Create bold and experiential strategies that leverage global events and milestones
  • Partner with product team to increase customer engagement through product

    promotions and offerings
  • Build a high-performing, agile marketing team
  • Effectively own and manage the marketing budget and resources

Candidate Requirements

  • Extensive marketing leadership experience in a variety of roles and organizations, ideally in both agency and in-house environments
  • Proven ability to increase awareness and engagement through innovative storytelling and brand building
  • Strategic mindset and a proven track record of effectively setting and executing integrated marketing positioning and strategies
  • Results orientation with an inclination to act
  • Bold and compassionate leader capable of building and developing high-performing teams
  • Nimble team player who is equally comfortable working at the executive level as well as on the ground
  • Innovative, courageous thinker who questions the limits of what is possible
  • Product savvy partner who works effectively with product and engineering teams
