State picklist should not default to US values

State picklist should not default to US values

Most of the Marketo clients I work with are based in Australia. I've noticed that the State field, even when mapped to SFDC fields, always defaults to show a standard set of US State picklist values.

Impact:

1) When State is used as a Smart List filter, the dropdown shows US States even when there are alternate values on records in Marketo. It would be good if the drop down looked up values in the database, like other field filters.

2) Form picklist defaults to US States, which although customisable, is a pain to have to overwrite each time with custom values. Would be preferable to default to the picklist values on e.g. Lead State or else, just blank.

Being in the States, I had no idea about this, but great point!  You've got my vote.

Love it! Every time we do a form, we have to go in and add the Candian provinces to the list. This would be a time saver!

Here you go. Pretty simply, follow the instructions: https://community.marketo.com/MarketoArticle?id=kA050000000KysH&src=

also see below that there are directions for countires other than US. Note that all fields must be required for this to work correctly.

In addition to this, I also like to add the javascript that blocks folks from submitting forms with a free emil address - gmail, yahoo, hotmail, etc.

This is a clear case of "JavaScript to the rescue".

Cheers Sierra, I think this article is more focussing on how to create dependent picklist fields on forms. What I'm really interested in, is getting the default State values removed for purposes of using State as a Smart List filter.

If you find any info on that keen to hear about it! 🙂

Thanks,
Carrie
