Report - Member of List

Report - Member of List

(I wrote this a month or two back, but the Community was having a hiccup day & it didn't post. Here it is again)

I would LOVE to be able to generate a report with the number of people on static lists. I think the simple static lists can do really complex things without creating a million fields in your instance. And it's a huge win for Marketo over an equal number of Smart Lists always querying the database to find the current membership - which is a major drag on performance.

It would be great to get a Report Type in Analytics - List Performance or Member of List or Leads on Lists

Program Name & List Name (Bonus points if you can put them in separate columns instead of "Program Name.List Name", easy enough for me to do if you don't).

Known Leads

Anonymous Leads

Ability to Add Smart Lists as Columns (like how Lead Performance Reports are)

Opportunity Fields

That would be huge to me.

Use Case :

I use URL Parameters to track all of my DemandGen campaigns. LinkedIn gets one URL, Retargeting gets another. There is a smart campaign listening for each specific parameter. When someone clicks from my ad, the campaign adds source/detail to new prospects, changes their status in the program, and adds them to a list. However if someone is anonymous, I just set a cookie, but they decide not to participate in my offer, instead navigate to my homepage, and download a case study. I consider that a win for that ad and a win for the case study. But I've only got a success date for the case study. Because that anonymous lead can't have a status in a program. A known lead would have the status visited, but an anonymous one who later converts would not have that history.

BUT Because I've added them onto the list, I can point to every interaction driven by that ad campaign. I can see the same number of visits that the ad network actually shows in their dashboard - instead of always feeling like they're using bots to drive up my spend. But I can't report on this! I can't say for 25 programs, with 10 different lists each, show me the 250 sets of data. I can roll that up per network, divide that over each network's spend and give me true numbers about what it costs to generate a lead from each source. Not what the CPL is - (Hint! They are not the same thing).

It would be huge to be able to easily pull aggregate metrics on Member of List. My team doesn't care about how many new leads I generate. They only care about quality engagements with qualified prospects. I can generate all the new names in the world, but if they can't buy what I'm selling it's a waste of time.

3 cheers for Member of List!

Hi Adam - how long after the ad click would you still attribute the lead to the ad? For example, what if they click your ad and then a week later downlaod a case study? Just curious.

I once had a similar requirement and I set up a smart campaign that watched for any known leads who visited a query string containing XYZ and filled out a form and then gave the success back to the original program.

Hey Delinda >

That part already works fine. I can get them into the program without a problem. The issue is later on when you don't want to report on how many people downloaded the case study, but how many people downloaded any asset because of an ad from facebook. 🙂

Harder.

Gotcha. I had the ad as it's own program. So a success in that program meant they downloaded anything because they came from that ad.

Granted, it was more work. Today my setup sounds similar to yours - the programs are the content.

Agreed. 7 programs per piece of content is a bit of a nightmare, but man, it's so much easier to report on!

I find that Marketo is lacking in potential system fields. Mostly anything that keeps a count or tally of things happening/etc.
