Need more detail in Error Notifications

Error notifications from Marketo that we have been getting are like this (we get one or two every week):

Salesforce Sync Error
 
Why: Marketo is unable to add leads to one or more Salesforce campaigns.

Error details: Failed: INSUFFICIENT_ACCESS_ON_CROSS_REFERENCE_ENTITY: insufficient access rights on cross-reference id

What to do now?
Contact your Salesforce admin for further troubleshooting. 


There is not enough information provided in this error notifications for me (the Salesforce Admin for our company) although the message says to contact me.  

One time this happened before, we got information from a support person with the 
Campaign Name/ID and the Lead/Contact ID of the record with the problem.

Why isn't that information included in the notification, it's available?

With the 
Campaign Name/ID and the Lead/Contact ID I can investigate, without it, I can't investigate.


I am suggesting that more detail is added to the Error Notifications like Campaign Name/ID and the Lead/Contact ID.

I agree! We've been having issues lately. I am not the SFDC admin but I've had to keep going through Marketo Support to get detailed lists of notification errors and have them pulled from an earlier date than when I started working here.

I completely agree as well! This is something I have been running into since December...and the notifications only started in February. I am a SFDC Admin and there is nothing on the SFDC side to indicate an issue, so what I need to know are the campaign details to resolve the error.

The good news is that Marketo started adding links to example leads that had the error in late July!  However, they should add a link below the examples like they do in their Salesforce Sync Error emails for leads that allows you to see all of the affected leads.

Also, the Why do I see the error "INSUFFICIENT_ACCESS_ON_CROSS_REFERENCE_ENTITY" and how can I fix this? Resource lists several possible causes.  Another one that I've found is when the lead has a link to another custom object record and then that lead is merged in SFDC.  The merge completes in SFDC, but fails in Marketo with this error because SFDC deleted the custom object as part of the merge and the lead's link/reference to that no longer exists. The result are two leads with the same email address in Marketo.  These can be merged as long as you select the reference ID as the winner in the lead record without the sync error.  Afterwards, the remaining lead record will sync successfully.
