Dynamically rename field headers to marketo field when importing lists

When I import a list, I currently have to rename each column header to be exactly the same as my marketo field name. It would be nice if I could simply choose the field I want associated with each header if it is not recognized  (similar to salesforce.com)

This is so needed!
Case-sensitive field names, extra spaces errors - this is a real pain sometimes.

I second this. Voting this up.

This would be really helpful!

yes this would be great if we had a kind of mapping tool where we could link our custom labels to marketo friendly labels

Yes. Eloqua does a good job with this. Adding the ability to either automatically or manually map the field header on the import list to the desired field in Marketo would be very useful. I vote this up as well.

I've added my vote to this one after a Marketo admin pointed me over here. I had suggested something similar (http://community.marketo.com/MarketoIdeaDetail?id=08750000000HRuUAAW) on a different thread. The dynamic mapping would be very helpful and my only additional request would be the ability to save mappings for future use. For example, if you've ever imported Jigsaw leads (or anything like that where you're relying on the same mapping for repeated uploads) it would be helpful if you could just choose a mapping that you've used previously and hit the upload button... Hopefully this makes sense.

+1  @Jason  Marketbright offered this as early as 2008.  I forget to rename "email addresses" to the proper name, so being able to a) change these without uploading again and b)remember my previous changes would be a significant time savings.

This would make the list import process so much easier! I previously used Vertical Response and they automatically mapped the fields from the Excel spreadsheet to their fields and gave you the ability to choose the correct field if the field they automatically chose was incorrect. And I agree that case sensitive field names and and extra space errors are a pain!

Would be very useful, as I have wasted a lot of valuable time trying to get the headings mapped correctly!!
