Character limits when cloning from our CRM tool to Marketo program

When we clone programs to Marketo, the Program Name must have a maximum of 75 characters in total. This makes it difficult for us because we are cloning programs with a naming convention of date/event type/event name.

This also means when we look at analytics for our programs sometimes important information gets left off the program title (eg location).

We are reviewing the naming conventions currently, but it would be really helpful if the character limit wasn't in place!

Hi @RBlackwell

Do you use abbreviations at all in your naming such as WB for webinar TS for trade show ?

This is our naming convention and rarely have issues with being  over 75 character's:

YYYY-QX-[REGION]-TS-XXXX-[Market Category Code]-[Tradeshow Name]

For region we use EMEA/PAR/LAR/NNA  and abbreviations for company Market/brand, type of event - webinar, virtual, in person, WB VE TS

For an annual event we can remove Quarter Q1. We include the 4 digit program number, and include trade show name.

Additional details are added to the description box - maybe city or languages assets sent in  EN DE FR also if sponsored and registration URL. So not all details are in the title.

Do you have some examples that could be reduced using abbreviations and the description box?
