Allow the ability to send sample emails without the word "TEST" in the subject line

When sending test emails to our deliverability/spam test services (Email On Acid), our spam scores are negatively affected due to the word "TEST" in the subject line.  In order for us to get realistic results, it would be helpful if there was an option to disable this when sending sample emails.

This would be great from an internal communications standpoint too -- whenever I send around test emails as a heads-up to colleagues who aren't as involved with Marketo, they get confused when they see the "TEST" in the subject line.

There is one way to get around this. Create a Test Campaign. In the "Smart List" tab, choose the list as all database and the email addresses you want to send to as a filter. This will send the email to who you specify once you run it.

We do this today for some of our email testing.  But the way the spam testers work (Litmus, Email On Acid, etc.) is they provide you with a series of email addresses to copy/paste into Marketo, which are sometimes different each time.  To use this approach would first require that they are all entered as leads in Marketo before they can be part of the smart campaign.  It's much easier to just copy these into the sample email address window.

Hi Dan,

Usually you can whitelist IP addresses from mailservers to account for these challenges. Add these Marketo emial server IP addresses to your corporate whitelist:

199.15.212.0/22
94.236.119.0/26
37.188.97.188/32
185.28.196.0/22

Some anti-spam systems use the email Return-Path field instead of the IP address for whitelisting. In those cases, the best approach is to whitelist *.mktomail.com, as Marketo uses several mailbox subdomains.

Other anti-spam systems whitelist based on the From address. In these situations, be sure to include all the sending (‘From’) domains that your Marketing group uses to communicate with leads. Let Anders Laybourn (anl@dpamicrophones.com) know, if this is the case.

Note regarding Postini: If you’re using Postini for email/spam security, let us know – they use a unique technology that requires IP ranges, and will provide these if needed.

Hi Thomas - thanks for your response here, but I don't think this is relevant to this topic.  In order to obtain realistic reports from the spam testing services like EmailOnAcid and Litmus, we shouldn't need (or want) to ask them to whitelist specific IP addresses (nor do I think they would be open to that).

I liked this idea, but wanted to also weigh in to say how much we would appreciate this feature, as well. I thought it was already an idea because I remember talking about it in the past, but I couldn't find it.
