I'm planning to use a second score system to qualify customers in a retention funnel - from the moment they buy our product to when they become our ambassadors. Something along the same lines of qualifying leads in an acquisition funnel.
Would love to exchange ideas with somebody who has implemented this or is planning to.

Hmm? Great concept. Customer Stage Scoring with Regression Scoring running behind it keeping it honest. You could use it to guide the course or prime Cross Sell/Up Sell. It would probably be easier to conceptualize a model knowing the product.
But off the top of my head maybe something like:
- New Customer
- Product Loyalist
- Product Ambassador/Evangelist
