Allow templates to be changed after email created

We have found that we will want to test out different templates, but cannot change the template once we have created an email. The biggest time that we run into this is we have our company logo template in English and French. If I want to clone an English email to simply add the French text, I cannot do this because I can't change easily from one template to another. It adds extra steps and causes me to have to have the English version open at the same time to make sure the formatting is the same. I want to have a button so that I can easily change the template once I have started working on an email.

I've run into that issue as well. If you've set up an email and realized you needed a different template, you have to redo the whole email.

Yes, this would be very useful. Email design programs that we have used in the past have had this feature, and it came in extremely handy.

Running into this problem right now, created a new landing page template and would like to update all existing landing pages to new template WITHOUT losing my 2 years of history, page ranks and adwords ranks. I essentially have to re-create all new pages and delete my old landing pages just to keep my same URLs, throwing aways years of data and ranking. Its EXTREMELY frustrating...

I love the idea, but I don't think it would be as simple as it may seem.

If you switch to a template that does not have the same editable regions (e.g. less of them, or with different IDs), there needs to be some intelligence that determines where to map the content to in the new template. Without a such feature, you would lose content from unmapped editable areas.

I often have to create a version of an email template for our Canadian market with a different address in the footer. Could Marketo offer the ability to use dynamic content in the footer? That way clients could create logic that if for example the point of sale is Canada show this footer.

Is there an easier way to do this in the interim? IT sounds like from the comments above that others are struggling with this as well.

Hi Cate:

If your template has a separate editable area in the footer, and you have a segment for Canada, you can use dynamic content to swap the footer for your Canadian leads.

Marketo makes really smart products and has really smart people.  There must be a way to create this email template swapping functionality.  Figure it out guys!  Lots of people need this, including me!
