Marketing Manager: Database and Direct Marketing Solutions
 
 
Situation
 
TruHearing is experiencing rapid growth and market expansion and is expecting the trend to continue. As a result, our Marketing department is growing and expanding, too. Recently, we’ve tested the viability of online direct marketing and remarketing methods and are just beginning to better leverage our growing database of customers and prospects. Initial results have been promising. As a result, we’re invested in developing and growing our direct marketing and demand generation functional capabilities, programs and talent.
 
We’re looking for an experienced marketing professional that can help us build, improve and maintain our database/CRM marketing, direct marketing (both print and online), and campaign management. The candidate will help us execute on our prospecting, lead, loyalty, and evangelism strategies. The candidate will build, maintain, optimize, and reporting on campaigns. Additionally, the candidate will also research and help select the systems, tools, software and processes to be implemented.
 
The position will report directly to the VP of Marketing and will work collaboratively with each member of the marketing team.

TruHearing is a health services company that helps people with hearing loss afford hearing aids. We work with major health insurance plans, hearing aid manufacturers, and local healthcare providers across the United States to significantly reduce the cost of hearing aids available to our customers. We’re a fast-paced, customer-focused organization with an entrepreneurial spirit that is committed to making a real difference in people’s lives.
 
 
Needs Overview
 
We have an extensive database of customers, leads and prospects but we haven’t yet consistently leveraged it to generate new and recurring revenue. We have a timely opportunity to build our top-line revenue at a low acquisition cost while adding significant value to our customers. Our CRM is a proprietary platform and as such, has unique requirements for integration. Additionally, we currently do not have a marketing automation system in place. Therefore, the winning candidate will have extensive hand-on experience manually extracting, tracking and updating data as well as implementing a marketing automation system. The candidate must be a Microsoft Excel wiz that can take “messy” data and combine, manipulate, and analyze large data sets for both reporting and campaign management purposes.
 
A thorough background using multiple CRMs and marketing automation platforms coupled with knowledge of data extraction and integration principles and methods will be key. That said, this is not a “technical” position (that is, we’re not looking for a database admin or similar), though the candidate must be technically competent and knowledgeable enough to discuss integration and reporting needs with programmers, developers and vendors.
 
We are seeking first a foremost a hardcore marketer – someone that lives and breathes campaigns, that is data-driven, that wakes up in the middle of the night thinking about new ways to better reach contacts, better deliver value propositions and constantly improve response rates. The winning candidate will be a combination strategist, analyst, and software/tools tactician that gets the big picture and vision while being a granular and detailed executer.
 
Our core needs for this position center around developing and managing:
 
  1. Drip and lead nurturing campaigns
  2. Customer loyalty, engagement and referral programs
  3. Multivariate testing, segmentation and consistent targeting
  4. Analytics and reporting
  5. The delivery of online content based on customer/lead/prospect behaviors
 
Though the candidate will be developing and managing these functions, they will have the full support of and work closely and collaboratively with the marketing communications team who will execute on the campaign creative assets. Consequently, the candidate must be able to clearly and concisely communicate data and findings, logic for strategies and tactics, and overall objectives per campaign or program to the marcom and management teams.
 
 
What We’re Looking For
 
The candidate’s performance will be measured by the success of the developed campaigns and programs. The components of success include time to delivery, degree to which deliverables are error-free, and standard metrics like CPM, CPC, CPL, CAC, engagement, open and click rates, opt in/opt out, etc.
 
Minimum Requirements
Candidates without the following will NOT be considered:
  • Five years direct experience developing, managing and analyzing demand gen and direct marketing campaigns
  • Five years extensive experience using Microsoft Excel to manipulate, combine and analyze large data sets
  • Five years comprehensive usage of an enterprise-level marketing automation tool (Marketo, Eloqua, Pardot, etc.)
  • Two years working with a web analytics platform (preferably GA, though other major platforms qualify)
  • Experience selecting and implementing at least one marketing automation system
 
In addition to the minimum requirements, we’re looking for:
  • Extensive knowledge of demand gen and direct marketing best practices as well as the ability to stay abreast of new methodologies, tools and technologies
  • The ability to develop and use a set of dashboards and metrics to deliver timely reports and analyses along with recommendations
  • A self-starter with TONS of initiative who doesn’t wait for answers but goes out and finds them
  • Demonstrated problem-solving as well as critical analysis and data analysis skills
  • High attention to details, deadlines and processes
  • A team player: We all win – or fail – together
  • Fluency in the languages of marketing strategists, marketing creatives, programmers and database admins, business unit owners, and most importantly, our customers
  • A logical and highly accountable marketing professional that thrives in a dynamic and changing environment
 
Candidates with the following score bonus points:
  • Eight years or more of experience
  • Experience in both online and traditional/direct mail marketing
  • Experience with media buying and placement
  • Experience working with and integrating ad networks
  • Experience creating or managing online advertising campaigns
