Hi all, I would like to add a poll functionality to one of our emails. The poll is simple:
Did you like our event?
Yes | No
If people click one of the buttons (Yes or No), I would like to direct them to the same landing page, where they can elaborate on their answer. Yet, I want to track their initial answer (Yes or No). For this, I want to use link-tracking that looks something like this:
If clicked Yes --> https://www.company.com/landingpage?feedback=pos
If clicked No --> https://www.company.com/landingpage?feedback=neg
However, when I create a simple Smart List to provide an overview of the different responses, it seems very unreliable. Is there a reliable way to make this happen? I don't want to work with two separate landing pages preferably.
Unreliable in what way? Can you elaborate and show how you set up the Smart List?
Hi Steven,
Unreliable in a way that it seems some contacts who clicked the link do appear in the Smart List, while others don't. I have tested this with multiple contacts.
I've set up two separate Smart Lists: one for the positive feedback, one for the negative feedback. The Smart Lists are set up in the following way:
Smart List Positive Feedback
1 - Clicked Link in Email
Email: is Poll Email
Link: is https://www.company.com/landingpage?feedback=pos
Date of Activity: in past 30 days
Smart List Negative Feedback
1 - Clicked Link in Email
Email: is Poll Email
Link: is https://www.company.com/landingpage?feedback=neg
Date of Activity: in past 30 days
Marketo does recognize both variations of the link, so I assumed it would capture the clicks correctly.
On what log are you basing the person having clicked the link? You're only showing one half of the presumed disparity. You have to have some way of proving there are people left out of the SL results.
I too would like to know what exactly you mean by "unreliable."
But it's clear that you can't use such logic because mail scanners will pre-follow your links. All "one-click" anything is inherently unreliable because of this.
