Stream cadence question

Does anyone know how to set an email engagement program stream so when a new lead is added to the engagement program, they first wait 2 days, then they are added to the engagement stream and receive the first email, then once a week from that day and so on until the stream is exhausted. For example, John D is added to the engagement program, the flow step waits 2 days, then the next step is to add them to the engagement stream 1, then they receive the first email say on Wednesday, then continue to receive 1 email a week every Wednesday for 3 more weeks as there are 4 emails in the stream.

Any thoughts, suggestions, hacks are greatly appreciated. Thx!

Re: Stream cadence question

Instead of adding people to the engagement program right away, why don't you add them after a wait step of 2 days first? Of course, you'd need to add people to the engagement program via the smart campaign flow step instead of just relying on stream transition rules that don't have capability of adding people to a Wait step first. So in your entry campaign's flow, add a Wait step of 2 days before you have the flow step "Add to Engagement Program" which basically adds people to the engagement program. e.g., John D qualifies for the entry campaign, gets added to the Wait step of 2 days, and after that gets added to the engagement program. You can set the stream cadence to repeat weekly every Wednesday. While setting the stream cadence, I'd recommend you set your first run date such that it falls on the day you want to send content weekly, so for the first week, the stream doesn't send out content 2x, which it'd if the weekly repeat day comes after the first run day. I hope this makes sense. Let us know if you have any questions.

Re: Stream cadence question

When using the Engagement program in Marketo, the cadence in the stream is pretty strict. You will want to use a smart campaign with a wait step and then adding them to the stream following that so they get the rest of the emails on a set schedule.

Re: Stream cadence question

Also, while adding the records to stream after the wait step, include a choice step that will only pass leads to the stream if they are not part of the exclusion list.

The exclusion list can be created using smart lists with anti-filters based on specific criteria. This approach ensures that leads are only added to the stream after a certain waiting period and only if they meet the necessary criteria, preventing potential issues where a lead might have changed their status or behavior during the waiting period.

Once a record is successfully added to the stream, it will then receive emails according to your predetermined cadence.
Hope this would add some value!

Re: Stream cadence question

That's a good callout, @Agrawal_Kirti! Also, let people flow through this entry campaign multiple times, so next time when they meet the entry criteria and aren't a member of the engagement program they're able to flow through the campaign flow.

I'd also recommend creating a campaign to update people's cadence to the Paused state (using the Change Engagement Program Cadence flow step) when they become ineligible for nurture, so you don't keep sending emails even when they aren't eligible to receive nurture emails. Similarly, have a campaign to flip back the cadence to the Normal state when people become eligible for the nurture again. Hope this helps.
