We want to be able to lockdown content areas within a Marketo template. We can lock them down in Marketo, but once they are in SFDC, they can be edited. Is there any way to do this in SFDC?

You could make some areas of the email images instead of text if you really didn't want a particular thing to be edited (such as a discount %), but you can't really overuse that workaround.
Not that I know of. Most sales people won't be troubled to write more than a line or two above the approved copy anyway. Unless your team is making really bad changes, this is not a big deal.
The only way to deal with this is to block access to this function.
