Dynamic Images on Landing Page

Has anyone ever tried to serve up dynamic images on a landing page?

For example, offer up someone's photo based upon the PURL or unique id?

Re: Dynamic Images on Landing Page

Hi Patrick!  I've done this before by showing an Account Manager's photo when their client visits a landing page; however, the way I did this was by creating Segments (Account Manager = So-and-So), followed by a dynamic Snippet that includes the AM's photo and contact information.

By those standards, you'd have to create a different Segment/Snippet per person.  Depending on how many people you're targeting, that could be a pain.  I'd love to hear if anyone has another suggestion because this could become useful in my near future.

Thanks Jenn!  I'll give this a shot.

If anyone else has other ideas I'm open for them as well.

Re: Dynamic Images on Landing Page

Hey Patrick:

I don't think it would be the best solution before considering all possibilities, but you could add a new lead field and fill it with the link to the user's photo, with a default fallback that makes sense.

Then on the LP itself, you could add an image with <img src="{{lead.Headshot:default=http://example.com/fallback-image-for-anonymous-visitors.jpg}}">. Then you'd have to set a process in place to have headshots only at certain proportional sizes, and that should work so long as the user is cookied before entering the page.

But there might be better ways to do this. I only add lead fields as last resorts, when I know the field is going to be significantly more than a one-time use. Unused lead fields are wasteful.
