Including Campaign Member Fields

Including Campaign Member Fields

It's be great if Marketo could pull in the custom Campaign Member fields.  It would be even better if we could update these fields with Marketo.
Example: tracking session preferences (attending AM or PM)  for an upcoming event using our custom campaign member fields

We hope to support custom SFDC campaign fields in the future.  The release this weekend includes Marketo Program to SFDC Campaign Sync of members, status and cost.

The ability to update custom Campaign Member fields would enable us to have better source attibution for downloads and event registrations by allowing us to record the referring source information for each lead/activity.  We were doing this with our previous marketing automation system before moving to Marketo and really need this.

Adding Campaign Member fields to Forms would solve a lot of problems.  Often we ask a few survey questions on a landing page.  As those questions change, we need to add and map a field on the Contact and Lead record.  It would be great if it just saved in the campaign member record and we didn't have to worry about the mapping.

This would save a lot of time and headache!

This (ability to update custom fields on the Campaign Mmeber) is really important and valuable for us.  Please implement this feature!

I wish I could vote for this one several times...we are also having the same issue with source attribution on form fill outs from our website, as well as Marketo forms. So capturing partner source, source site, and source ID for campaigns and mapping over to the SFDC campaign member, which we don't to overwite. Our workaround was creating a webservice trigger which doesn't work for Marketo forms. If we could do this update when we added/update a member to SFDC campaigns, this would save us a lot of work!

I need this too for the same reasons above.  When you have a campaign that you're promoting across different channels, you want to be able to associate the lead source to the campaign member record.

Now my only work around is to a separate child campaign for every possible channel for every possible content piece and program that we offer.  Here's an example, a lead clicks a banner ad on a trade publication to come to a landing page to download whitepaper.  I create a child campaign for that whitepaper with the lead source = trade publication.  We store that lead source value in a session cookie and the marketo form parses that lead source value.  In the same session, that person visits our website and downloads 3 other whitepapers, registers for 2 other webinars, and registers to watch one video.  I have to create child campaigns associated with that trade publication for those 3 whitepapers, 2 webinars, and 1 video to correctly associate that lead source to that campaign member record.  Every time I create a new SFDC campaign or add a new marketing channel, I'm going to have to update that complete matrix of campaigns with a set of child campaigns for each possible lead source to be able to attribute the lead to the lead source.  Otherwise, I'm going to have a large number of campaign members that will appear to be organic traffic when they were actually driven to that campaign by direct traffic.  This will ultimately result in undervaluing of our demand generation efforts and make it look like organic traffic is stonger than demand generation-driven traffic.

We really need this.

I was able to work around this lack of functionality in Marketo by using a Cross-Object Field Update Workflow in Salesforce.com.  SFDC just released cross-object workflow in their Spring 12 release.  I created a workflow that updates a custom Campaign Member field from the lead or contact field.  Simply capture whatever data you want in a field in Lead/Contact and then create a field update on Campaign Member.

Dani, thanks for the tip.  That sounds good if you have one camapign you want to do this for.  But could get out of hand if you have multiple.

We still need this integrated into Marketo.
