Form Fill Dates

Form Fill Dates

I inherited our Marketo instance and was told to use the "Update" field to determine who filled out the forms on what date. Well, just the other day I discovered that "Update" information has nothing to do with when the contact filled out a form. After speaking to a few different Marketo support team members I learned you can't gather the form fill date/time date. WHAT?! What marketer doesn't want to know when a form was filled out!? On HubSpot, not only do you know when someone filled out a form, you get an alert to your email that a form was completed by a prospect. UMMMM! Marketo, get on that! Wouldn't it be great to know as soon as a form was submitted? I cannot believe this information is NOT available in Marketo. PLEASE can someone make gathering this basic information a Marketo feature?!

The date of a Filled Out Form activity is always present in the Activity Log.

And of course a Marketo Send Alert can be triggered for any form fill.

Do you mean, the activity log of a contact? If I have over 3000 form fills, I do not have time to go into those 3000 individual contacts daily to determine when they filled out a form. This information should be available in a report! I would spend my ENTIRE day tracking form fills - who has time for that?
Can they send out an alert automatically? How? I haven't learned of a way. Hubspot it's automated. Do I need to create a smart list and then an alert or something? Nothing is simple with this platform I will say that!
Any advise would be greatly appreciated - both how I can get a daily report of the contacts that filled out my forms, and how I can send out an alert to my sales team when a form has been submitted.

Please open 2 threads in the Products‌ area for these questions, as the Ideas space isn't right place for those discussions. Thanks.

Sorry! This was the URL Marketo support gave me as they said this feature isn't available, but I should make a request for it to be implemented.

Right, but if you have a question about how Marketo Alerts work, that should be in Products.

I didn't realize it was a question about how Marketo works. Tech support told me I couldn't accomplish these goals and recommended I write a suggestion that Marketo incorporate in your product. You are the one that is telling me this is possible.. but up until you responded, I was under the impression I couldn't accomplish these two items in the Marketo instance. See the confusion?

Sounds to me like a Smart Campaign with a trigger for when someone fills out a form (can set up multiple triggers "listening" for different forms). You can add to a list based on that, write a value and a date stamp to custom field, send an alert email when a form is filled, further set up conditions when a "requests contact" is checked on a form instead of all form submits.

So - can the system tell you out of the box in a list view (multiple records in one list) when someone submitted a form and when? - NO

Can you create smart campaigns with form fill triggers that do X, Y or Z? - YES (very manual, for every form)

With Eloqua - the form fill is not a contact/record field, but is instead registered as an activity and you can filter on it as such - by creating filters that look for contacts who have submitted form(s) & how many times (e.g. "1 or more times") & when (e.g. "within the past 30 days"), then you get a count. To me, Marketo is similar to Eloqua in this regard in that there's no field value that you can filter on and you need to filter records on the fact that they submitted a form, but no out of the box "notification" exists because there can be plenty of forms that you would not want to be notified about.

(please correct me if I'm wrong about Marketo, I'm more an Eloqua expert, still learning Marketo)

This would be extremely helpful, especially with the deprecation of forms 1.0. I would love to be able to see which of the forms are actually still being submitted and will need to be remade in 2.0, and which can be archived and not replaced.
