Cross Domain Munchkin Tracking

Cross Domain Munchkin Tracking

It would be great to be able to have Munchkin track web activity across domains. It turns out that one anonymous lead is abandoned and a new one is created when a lead moves from one domain to the next, even when they have the same munchkin code on them.

Here are two use cases:

Your company creates a mini-site that generates traffic to your main website, where they convert. Cross domain tracking would provide insight into how they interacted on the minisite.

Your company has a .com and a .net / .org domain with content on those domains.

Man this cross domain associatelead.. Glad I'm not the only one struggling on this.
Whats strange though is i have it working on 2 sites, but 3 of my others can't associate lead!

I can't figure out for the life of me how this is even happening, but 2 sites completely seperate can associate back and forth..

We have the same issue with multinational environments where each country has their own country level domain.
Anyone have found a simple solution to this?

Trying to understand here. Why can Hubspot have Automatic cross domain linking and not Marketo?

O
r do I misunderstand anything here?

Nobody really has this, due to the cookie/security rules that browser follow. But it looks like Hubspot has built some infrastructure to help you better achieve this. Nothing is stopping Marketo from doing that too, they just haven't invested in it.

Maybe seeing vendors like Hubspot better address their user's needs will push Marketo to prioritize this. I wouldn't hold my breath though -- this is probably still considered an edge case.

Pontus Brohult, you are not misunderatanding anything.

You are just missing two important details. The functionality you are referencing from Hubspot has a counterpart in all marketing automation products.

Breno!

OK. In my case we have the same Munchkin account ID on all sites so that part is no problem.

What I miss is a way to automatically link cross-domain.

From what I understand your first link tells me that I either can manually merge anonymous leads or tie them together by a email workaround. In the Hubspot case I would not need to do this workaround myself. Please correct me if I am wrong.

I agree, it is not automated in Marketo yet.

The suggestion is not really a long term one. It helps to close the gap if you have several disconnected leads.
