Ability to associate Inferred Company with Account Owner

Ability to associate Inferred Company with Account Owner

We are currently sending alerts to Account Owners based on web page visits from anonymous visitors that are from the same inferred company as Accounts that are at a certain stage in the revenue cycle (e.g. customer).

Unfortunately the Inferred Company is not associated with the Account and/or Account Owner, so we have to  manually do the following:
  • Review the list of inferred company names for all know leads at each Account to select the appropriate inferred company name as some leads have ISPs as their inferred company name.
  • Segregate the inferred company names by Account owner, so we can include them in the appropriate Send Alert flow choice to send to each rep.
This is quite time consuming and as a result, is not well maintained.  It would be great if Marketo could provide us a way to easily associate inferred company names to our Accounts, so that we don't have to do this.

Interesting idea to send alerts for inferred company. How do you filter out the ISP names?

And one more question if you don't mind... How accurate do you find the Inferred Company field to be?

Good questions.  The Send Alert flow step has multiple Choices that use the "If Inferred Company is" and then I enter the list all of the Inferred Company names that correspond to the named accounts for each rep.  So I am filtering these out manually, but if Marketo adds the ability to automatically associate the Inferred Company with the corresponding Account / Account Owner, they should provide a "hide inferred companies from ISPs" setting similar to the Web Page Report's setting to "hide anonymous visitors from ISPs".

We've set up a few dozen of these (need to set up hundreds) and there were a few companies whose leads' IP addresses resolved to ISPs, but since we are dealing with larger companies most of the Inferred Company Names are very similar to the account names.  However, for this purpose it doesn't matter what the name is as long as it is a unique value associated with that account.

We are doing exactly the same for our Target accounts too.

The only issue is traffic to our website is high and in turn generating lot of alerts.
We want to limit this to 1 alert per company per day.
Do you have any suggestions on how to go about achieving that ?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Good point Mahati!  You could create a Company Web Activity Report whose smart list has a Inferred Company filter with just those company names associated with a specific Account owner, and whose Setup has a Date of Activity setting for "Yesterday" and a subscription to send the report to the owner each morning.  Unfortunately, not the best solution if you have a lot of owners and/or a lot of changes in who owns which Accounts.
