Our Marketo Community Guidelines

Guidelines to Follow

Welcome to the Marketing Nation Community! We are a community that shares inspiration, knowledge, ideas, and best practices with the goal of helping each other succeed and grow. These Guidelines outline our expectations of member behavior, which will help our Community not only be a source of helpful information but a friendly, safe, and welcoming place. Please note your use of the Marketo Community is subject to these Guidelines, as well as the Marketo Terms of Use.

Be yourself.

We are a community of amazing people who want to get to know each other and create connections. Represent yourself authentically and provide as much information about yourself as you can in your profile. Include a photo of yourself. We all prefer to interact with human beings rather than flowers, cars, and bouncing ball avatars.

Be professional and respectful.

Our community is made up of many types of people, all of whom have the right to feel comfortable and safe. Regardless of the medium, ensure your content doesn’t discriminate against members based on any perceived differences, including but not limited to differences in culture, race, ethnicity, age, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, and physical ability. Approach discussions with respect for those engaging with you, offer honest help, thank people for useful posts, and be patient (some of us are not as technical as others).

Check before posting.

There are many answered questions and helpful posts in the Community. Maybe someone else has already asked and answered your question. Before posting, please use the search function and look at the suggested content. It’s usually the fastest way to get the information you need.

Share your own genius.

Do you have something interesting to add to a conversation? Our Community is the amazing place it is because of the generosity of our members. We encourage you to share your genius (just don't take other people's words and pass them off as your own). Plus, you can earn points, badges, and status while you're at it!

Your opinions are always welcome, but personal attacks and harassment ("flaming") of individuals or organizations are not acceptable.

Be clear and concise.

There are many languages and cultures represented in our community. Please communicate as clearly and concisely as you can so everyone can understand. Avoid using slang or other wording which might be difficult for all users to understand.

Don't sell or spam.

Members benefit from the knowledge and expertise Marketo consultants and partners provide in Community. However, they don't want to hear a sales pitch, so don't promote your services or products (i.e. no ads, promotions, links to forms or your site, etc.). If you want someone to trust you enough to buy what you offer, share your expertise with no strings attached and they will seek you out.

Finally, Marketo reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to edit and/or remove any post containing or linking to material in violation of these Guidelines and disable the membership of any user who violates these Guidelines. Typically, we will give members a warning for first and second offenses. Third offenses will result in loss of membership. On the other hand, extreme violations (those that are unlawful, infringe third-party rights, libelous, defamatory, obscene, profane, pornographic, indecent, lewd, harassing, threatening, harmful, invasive of privacy or publicity rights, abusive, inflammatory or otherwise objectionable or injurious to third parties) will be addressed immediately. Bottom line, if you post it, then you are representing to us that it is legal for you to post it. If you have any doubts about whether your post or link may violate these Guidelines, please feel free to ask the Community Manager Jon Chen before posting.
