Sender Score

Discussion created by Josh Pickles on Jun 24, 2019

Kia ora team,

Something we briefly touched on in MUG was Return Path's Sender Score tool.

The Sender Score is a free tool that runs the IP address your Marketo instance uses to send emails from against a series of algorithms and checks to give you a score.

The score is one way to help you determine the overall health of your instance and the state of your email deliverability.

Sender Score grades an IP address up to a maximum score of 100. If you're sitting in the high 90s (i.e. 97+) you're doing fine.

There's a lot that goes into determining a score, such as:

  • Complaints
  • Volume
  • External Reputation
  • Unknown Users
  • Rejected

For more information on how the algorithm operates, check out the FAQ section here: https://www.senderscore.org/faq/

Some things to note:

  • Registering for a free account will give you access to a more detailed report.
  • If you are on a shared IP address (you are not the only sender using the IP address) you are not the only company who will have an impact on the Sender Score.
  • A high score does not necessarily mean your emails are hitting the inbox

Check out your sender score here: https://www.senderscore.org

Cheers,

JP
