I did take the new test at Summit, although it was my first time so I can't offer a direct comparison to the old format.
From the looks of it, Kristen's guide is pretty helpful for anyone planning to take the new test. In fact, I would say Kristen lists off some of the nooks and crannies of Marketo that are must-haves for the exam.
Other than that, I would say anyone who isn't in Marketo every day but desires the certification should sit down with their admin and spend a good amount of time going over the logistics of program, smart campaign, smart list, and report building. Use Kristen's post as your guide, and Marketo's own resource pages to know where you may need to study.
For me to pass, I committed myself to studying our own best practices and reading the product docs page by page, every day, and taking notes.
