You can use the "opens sales email" trigger in your smart list and the flow step is "send alert." However, I would caution you from over-using alerts, as sales reps will start to tune them out. I would rely on the sales insight email view to show whether or not the email was opened.

Its funny you say they will tune the alerts out as they typically do, but the SDRs asked for alerts to be issued (strange right ).
