Error received when syncing a lead - with ParentContactID - to CRM

I'm curious if any of you have ever seen this error before.  It happens when trying to sync the a lead (where there’s a parent contact) over to CRM.  As part of a webhook (that creates a temporary duplicate lead in Marketo from a lead is already a MS contact – and before the sync – I’m populating the “Parent Contact for Lead” field (parentcontactid) with the ContactGUID from the source contact record:



But then when the lead is synced to CRM, I get this error:



When I remove the value from the "Parent Contact for Lead" field, it syncs fine.  Any idea what could be causing this?
