What changed yesterday with Saleforce Professional sync?

We have used Marketo and Salesforce Professional edition (No API access) for 4 years.   Yesterday sync failed with an error indicating a failure to connect to the API.   No notice or information from Salesforce.   I opened a ticket with Saleforce and they say APIs are now required for use with Marketo.    No announcement, no notice, nothing on the website.  

Anybody else experiencing this issue?

Don, please move the thread to Products​. "Community" is for website feedback, not support -- and yes, this is confusing!
