I just figured out how to present your events on the day that your *event occurs*, instead of when you create it:
Go to calendar and find your event program, most likely living on the day you created the program
Click Program Focus.
On the Detail sidebar, you can then input the Start/End date
Then, within that program you can create new Smart campaigns for your event invites. The coolest feature I also discovered is that Marketo allows you to rename your smart campaigns in the Calendar view, so that it makes more sense.
