Tracking subdomains separately from website domain in Google Analytics

Hello,

Is there any way to track our blog traffic separately from our website traffic in google analytics? For example, if our website url was www.website.com and our blog url was blog.website.com.. can we separate the two and see who's visiting our blog vs the website based on how the url is structured?

I was told that it's impossible to pull off and that the issue lies in the structure of the url. Instead of blog.website.com we were told our urls should read www.website.com/blog. I find this hard to believe and I don't want to make any changes if there's a way to track the subdomain in Google Analytics.

Thanks.

it would be best to discuss on a GA forum or check the docs. You can definitely track them separately in the same UA ID or as separate UA IDs. This will depend on your site structure.

You could create a view where you would filter your blog visits only, while keeping the same UA ID.
