How do I add new leads to an existing list?

I have an excel spreadsheet with new leads, and I want to add it to an existing list on the lead database without deleting anything.

You can do this by going to the leads database and select your target list for import, then select list actions, import list. It will add the leads to your existing leads. It won't delete anything.
